Welcome to the official website of
Donaghadee Lawn Tennis Club!
For those of you unfamiliar with our
part of the world, simply find the east coast of the Ards Peninsula in
Northern Ireland and we are sited at 2 o’ clock just across the Irish Sea
from Portpatrick in Scotland. Donaghadee (pop: 9,500) is best known for the
harbour, the lifeboat, the lighthouse, the Moat, the tennis club and the
North Down Subbuteo League (not necessarily in that order!)
Our courts are located in a scenic
area called The Commons close to the sea and with splendid views. Although
one of the smallest clubs to play in the Belfast and District Tennis League
(no more than 30 members), we pride ourselves on having great courts, the
best floodlights and a modern pavilion to complement the setting.
On this site, which will be updated
on a regular basis, you will be able to check up on how the tennis club is
doing, read about our past successes (and the occasional failure) and- if
you’re really keen- you can find out how to join. We are currently looking
for Sharapova types (not necessarily blonde ones) as indeed are most clubs
in the district.
For season 2008 we have entered two sides in the Mixed Leagues and our Mens Singles side will be in Division 1 this
year, and their matches start in March. The Junior section is going strong
and should have a team entered in the Under 17 league. Reports of the action
will be featured here and in the local press.
